Delegates' Assembly 2019
At this point, a huge thank you to the Lüdenscheid management and especially to Stefan Kugel and his assistant (chef!), who gave us a wonderful environment for our 3rd delegate meeting of the ABB Betriebssport eV!
A special highlight was the tour of the company!
In total, the current 1045 members were represented at this year's delegate meeting by 11 delegates for 1012 valid member votes. All decisions were made with the largest majority (always > 90%) and in some cases unanimously. This shows that the association is on the right track even in its third year. This was also confirmed with clear approval in a final opinion poll.
Central topics were:
- Review and discharge of the Board of Directors
- Members and locations
- Election of new board
- Local sports events, how can we reach even more locations?
- Sports festival vs. Olympics - Setting new standards and seizing opportunities.
- Financing.
In addition, the situation regarding the sale of the Power Grids Division was discussed and the resulting impacts on the club were discussed.
Review:
We coordinated all running events (running, triathlon, etc.). The 2nd ABB company sports festival in 2018 was a great success and, with over 350 active athletes from over 15 locations, it was proof that we were on the right path. We were able to gain many new members, especially trainees with new sports such as Tough Mudder. We were also successful in setting up new sports and interest groups such as Argentine tango and bouldering. We were also able to successfully expand and strengthen the networks. We are particularly proud of the involvement and partnership with Lebenshilfe, the Schapbach children's holiday home and other good partners.
Financing:
After two good years of development in 2017/18, we were able to achieve solid basic financing again in the third year. This means that we can support sporting events and also expand the company sports association in 2019. Our stakeholders see us as an important part of achieving their visions and strategies.
Members and locations:
In 2018, our goal of over 1000 members was very ambitious, but we achieved it.
Election of new board:
The old board was unanimously discharged and the following board was unanimously elected for the next 2 years:
1. Chairman: York Werschke
2nd Chairman: Hans-Georg Gläser
3rd Chairman: Frank Idaszek
Treasurer: Jürgen Anslemann
It is very positive that Frank will now bring his commitment, which he has shown particularly for the Ratingen location, to the scope of the entire club. We are very much looking forward to this.
Local sports events - How can we reach even more people interested in sports? How can we make our club more attractive and modern?
These points are important for us to address and connect:
FAMILY - LEISURE - US - ABB
LOCATION / DIVISION - NETWORK - SPORTS FESTIVALS/EVENTS
EVENTS local - GENERATIONS
Sports Festival vs. Olympics:
Despite the increasing number of participants and the positive feedback, we have not been able to attract a significant number of participants from other locations to our central sports festival in Weinheim. The reasons are very varied. However, one thing is now clear after two years: we are retaining the vision of comprehensive and joint sports festivals. However, the path needs to be corrected and the locations given more and clearer importance.
With the Olympic idea of the five colored rings, as a symbol for the different locations, we will pursue the goal of presenting company sports at the locations and with the locations in an agile and diverse way.
What is very important: We as Betriebssport eV will then invite all other locations accordingly and will support, promote and actively participate in these events.
The first events have already been agreed with concrete actions:
29 June in Ratingen: A running event for the site’s summer festival
05 July in Lüdenscheid: Participation in the AOK run
ABB & Hitachi:
We will be working intensively on the schedule here over the course of the year. Until mid-2020, we will all still be together in one ABB family (partly in a joint venture (JV) as a 100% subsidiary) and from July 1, 2020, some members of the current ABB Betriebssport eV will work in the new JV. We will then discuss and decide on any necessary adjustments at the 2020 delegate meeting at the latest.
If you have any questions about these topics, the board will be happy to help you.
