Delegates' Assembly 2021

Delegates' Assembly 2021

Hello dear delegates, dear members of our ABB Company Sports Association,

Due to the current development of the pandemic, the fifth delegate meeting took place on April 17, 2021 again in digital form via MS Teams.

In total, 84% of the company sports members were represented by the participation of 14 delegates from the locations, which fulfilled and formally confirmed the quorum for the association.

At this point, a big thank you to all participants for their active participation!

At the beginning of the meeting, a look back was taken at the year 2020. Due to the pandemic-related switch to digital offerings for the time being, the range of sports on offer at the various locations was severely restricted.

Despite all this, the number of members is steadily increasing and at the end of last year amounted to 1,300, including employees of ABB, Hitachi ABB and external members.

From 2021, the extended board of ABB Betriebssport eV will grow by another person. At the delegate meeting, Ralf Schäffer from the ABB Minden site was confirmed as a member of the extended board. Once again, a warm welcome!

Another main point of the meeting was the decision to change or adapt both the name of the association and the statutes. The Hitachi ABB Power Grids joint venture will change its legal entity name and therefore the name and statutes of the association should also be adapted, which is why the delegates' approval for this was formally confirmed at the meeting. A final name for the association has not yet been decided, so suggestions are still welcome.

Please send your suggestion here: info@abb-betriebssport.de

The statutes with the changes have been prepared and approved and can then be submitted with the new name.

Here is a brief outlook for 2021:

Sports activities will hopefully resume in the 3rd or 4th quarter. However, this statement is purely speculative and should be treated with caution in view of the further development of the pandemic. However, we think that some outdoor sports can start sooner and indoor sports with the approval of the municipal sports facility regulations and clubs.

The association will expand and intensify its communication and public relations work in 2021. Targeted information about the association and its offerings will also be made available when onboarding new employees.

Large sporting events cannot be planned in these uncertain times, which is why the 2021 sports festival will not be planned any further. Spontaneous, possible offers will be communicated early on the website and to all members.

Even though the pandemic is limiting the club's work, Betriebssport eV is continuing to develop. Let us continue to make such intensive progress and get through this time well.

Best regards

Your Board

Frank, Hans-Georg, Jürgen, Ralf and York
