Welcome to the Ratingen location!
Düsseldorf, April 14, 2024 - Last Sunday, a total of 27 companies gathered in Düsseldorf for the annual Business Cup, an exciting company football tournament that focuses not only on sporting but also business competition.
Among the participants was the ABB team, which competed under the leadership of Eugen Siemens for the first time. Expectations were high, but the tournament did not go quite according to plan for the newly formed ABB team.
Hopes of surviving the group stage and reaching the finals were dashed by unfortunate circumstances. Injuries significantly affected the team's performance, which led to ABB even having to play with fewer players in two matches.
"Despite our full commitment, especially from our goalkeeper, we were not able to reach our full potential. The injuries had a major impact on us," Eugen Siemens commented on the situation.
The other teams in the group benefited from ABB's bad luck and were able to consolidate their positions. Unfortunately, ABB didn't gain much this year, apart from valuable experience and the realization that they will have to prove themselves again next year.
"We are disappointed with the result, but we will learn from this experience and return stronger," assured Eugen Siemens.
Despite the early elimination, the ABB team was determined to come back next year with an improved performance and secure a place among the top teams in the Business Cup.
Anyone who already feels like playing soccer can do so in the indoor soccer arena at Cosmo-Sports Düsseldorf. Colleagues meet here at their own expense to get in shape for the next soccer tournament. Eugen Siemens is also the contact person here. Games are played every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday, January 27th, we rented a sports hall to see what it was like to play on indoor flooring.
Everyone had a lot of fun, including afterwards with a beer and a bratwurst. The game was against Peter Pohl. There were many fair games to admire. A total of 6 x 20 minutes were played.
New in company sports: back fitness
The sedentary lifestyle with constant sitting, stress and a lack of balanced physical activity weaken the structures of the back, so that problems sometimes arise even with everyday stress. Under professional guidance, the health management and the BSG ABB Ratingen eV will be offering exercises to strengthen the back and core muscles from August 15, 2023. Colleagues from all ABB companies at the site are invited.

After the company run was canceled for two years due to the pandemic, runners were able to take part in the B2Run again this year.
Over 70 participants and numerous fans ensured an atmospheric appearance at the ABB stand in the Merkur Spiel Arena. After more than 6 km along the Rhine, the runners were greeted in the stadium by a total of over 11,500 participants. The weather played along and so the successful participation could be celebrated after the run with treats from the various drinks and food stands.
celebrated. The fastest ABB runner was our trainee Aron Beermann with a time of 24:41 minutes. The fastest female runner was Yvonne Wallach from the commercial processing department. She needed 30:20 minutes for the 6.2 kilometer long route.
The time has finally come. After a long time, the company sports club once again has an official football division.
After many internal attempts to reactivate football at ABB's Ratingen site, there will be a separate division in the company sports club starting in autumn.
Training takes place every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the newly built sports hall at Wrangelstr. 40, in 40470 Düsseldorf. The conditions here are ideal. The hall is about 3 km (5 - 10 minutes) from the location.

The St. Martin's Run took place at Unterbacher See in Düsseldorf in beautiful summer temperatures. The Ratingen location took part in this event with a total of 10 participants. Everyone had a lot of fun and was very happy with their times. Of course, everyone was most pleased with the gingerbread man afterwards, which was an additional motivation!
